Diseases are not common on most houseplants grown indoors because environmental conditions are not favourable for plant pathogens to grow and infect the plants.
Control of diseases begins with prevention. Always buy disease-free plants. Use a good quality potting mix when re-potting. Before reusing any pots, they should be carefully scrubbed clean and properly rinsed to kill any disease organisms present.
Thereafter taking good care of your potted plants (a consistent fertilising program, proper watering and spacing of pots) and regular checks for disease symptoms should ensure that you maintain a healthy, happy potted garden.
